Lake Lanier Fishing Report 2/7/17
Conditions: Overcast / Drizzle, 60 Degrees air temp, 53 degree water temp.
Clear to stained water. Fish were blowing up on schools of tiny shad in the backs of large mid-lake creeks. I came with medium - large shad from 10"-16" looking for a beast but all of these fish were in the 5-8 lb. class. Managed one about 8lbs. but watched fish chomp at my baits all day, just not big enough to take the full bait. The fish are definitely super active now so get back into the long creeks for success. Now is the time to pull planer boards and free lines as the fish are up in the water column. A four to six inch fluke would be deadly among these smaller fish. Good Fishing!
